It is important for a business to track critical business related events.

An event is any entity that has meaning to your business. An event may be a physical item such as a computer, a car, or even software. An event may be a service contract for your vending machines or for your computer hardware. An event may be a task such as an annual Internet Usage Policy audit, or even a lease on a building. Almost any component found in the business environment may be considered an event.

All events have characteristics that can be associated with a date. A new computer may have a warranty expiration date. A car has an emission inspection date. A service contact surely has an expiration date, and possibly a renewal date. Even a policy audit can be associated with a date.

Failure to closely monitor events and their related dates may result in loss of business, systems down time, and most often added expense. All too often, critical dates are missed, and no one is notified until an unplanned expensive solution must be quickly implemented.

Everyone has good intentions to track scheduled events, but over time these intentions disappear. How often is a recurring task missed only to find out that the person responsible for the task no longer works for the company, or has had a change in job assignment, or just plain forgot!

Event Tracker provides a tool to track these critical business events based on an ASP model. This ASP (application service provider) model implies that any defined user who has access to the Internet, anywhere in the world, can participate in event tracking. The entire solution is hosted off-site, and can be implemented without the need to involve your IT department.

The event tracking solution involves several steps.

1) Define your company (company, locations, departments, roles, users, and users that are in each role)

2) Define your vendors and service providers

3) Define what events you want to track. You may track an unlimited number of critical dates for each event.

4) Define the roles to contact prior to an event occurring.

Every night Event Tracker reviews all outstanding events to determine if email notifications need to be sent out. Email notifications contains a wealth of information related to the event and cause users to take action. There is an extensive follow-up system in place to ensure that a critical event is dealt with before it is too late !

Please take a moment to think about your business.

Are you tracking your events ?
